A lonely island village in the Bungo Channel / Walk around the Seto Inland Sea Jimukushima & Kuroshima (Oita Prefecture) Jinmu Island An island in the Bungo Channel, 16km from Tsukumi Port. It is designated as part of the Nippō Kaigan Quasi-National Park and has beautiful natural scenery. The southern side of the mountain ridge, which has a peak of 111m above sea level, is a cliff, and there are settlements on the flat land and slopes of the mountain in the northeast. Since 1981, efforts have been made to create a "camellia village," and about 5,000 camellia trees, including yabutsubaki, have been planted in the camellia garden from the foot of the northern side of the mountain to the summit, and they bloom beautifully from mid-January every year. The main industry is coastal fishing, mainly single-line fishing for horse mackerel, sea bream, yellowtail, and hairtail, and shellfish harvesting, but the problem for the island's fishermen is that they do not have common fishing rights around the island. It is often called Muku Island. Kuroshima A small island in Usuki Bay, located 300m offshore from Omoto Port on the Saganoseki Peninsula, in the northern part of Usuki City. In the eastern hills, there is an ancient tomb with a horizontal stone chamber, which is rare along the Bungo Channel coast. It is said that the Dutch ship Liefde, carrying William Adams (Miura Tetsuhari), who later became a political advisor to Tokugawa Ieyasu, arrived on Kuroshima in 1600, and in 2000 the Crown Prince of the Netherlands visited the island. In 1901, Watanabe Genjiro purchased the island and developed it, working on fruit cultivation and fishing. There are still mandarin orange orchards, and the island is crowded with beachgoers in the summer. It is part of the Nippori Coast Quasi-National Park. 集落町並みWalker http://www.shurakumachinami.natsu.gs/...
