I was reintroduced to Pikmin 2 by Let's Plays done by StephenPlays & Chuggaaconroy, and I remembered just how much I loved playing this game when I first got my hands on it. Pikmin is definitely not the most popular series out there, but there are some incredible tracks in the game, especially if you're a jazz fan. It seems like composer Hajime Wakai was a huge Pat Metheny fan, as there are a few tracks that sound like they could come straight from a Metheny album. Being the video game jazz guy that I am, here's my take on a fully realized version of this pseudo-Metheny tune. I did a lot of digging on how to get a Metheny-esque guitar tone, and I think I came up with something pretty close to what he's got going on! One of my favorite aspects of the Pikmin soundtrack is the dynamic nature of the music. It's even a bit more complex than Banjo Kazooie, as the music changes quite often, such as when you're in battle, when your Pikmin are working on something, or when it's the end of the day. I strove to reflect that in my arrangement, and I really like how it turned out. See if you can figure out the other Pikmin tune I used in the end of this arrangement.
