Avalon Waterways. Rhine River Cruise. Excursion to Cologne to see the Cologne Cathedral and sail towards our last port of Amsterdam. Our time in Cologne was brief. We decided to skip the tours offered and walk along the river to the cathedral. This gothic cathedral was a sight to see and we were lucky to view the inside while Sunday mass was taking place. After lunch, we left Cologne and sailed towards Amsterdam. This video will give you a sense of much of the cruise as the Rhine River is very industrial. The Upper Middle Valley of the Rhine River is only 67 km in length and this is what is shown and advertised when researching cruising on the Rhine. We didn't see any of this on other videos and decided to include so others will be more informed as to what the reality is when cruising the Rhine.
