In this third livestream episode of the Bitwig Community Talk on Odo Sendaidokai’s YouTube channel, we (Odo Sendaidokai ( / @odosendaidokai ) and Jürgen Mossgraber ( / @mossgraber ) ) talked to Wim from Belgium, who is known as Creating Spaces. Wim switched from Ableton to Bitwig for his live sets. He runs a YouTube channel Creating Spaces Producer ( / @creatingspacesproducer ) . There you can find videos of how he sets up his live set and you can also listen to some of his live sets. A special feature of his live sets is a self-developed Bitwig extension called BitX (https://github.com/wimvandenborre/BitX) . The idea comes from an already existing tool ClyphX (https://github.com/ldrolez/clyphx-live11) . Simply put, BitX allows you to write commands instead of just giving clips a name, telling Bitwig what to do when the clip is called up. For example, presets or drum racks can be loaded, the BPM changed or a message window displayed. Of course, the extension recognises many more commands and is being continuously developed. Wim has several videos about the BitX extension on his YouTube channel, in which he explains how it works step by step. Wim presented his idea that he would like to see many more live meetings and concerts organised by artists. So that everyone from beginners to professionals can perform. As a kind of grassroots movement for self-organised concerts and maker spaces. A bit like the EMOM (Electronic Musicians Open Mic) coming from the UK. Many thanks to Wim ‘Creating Spaces’ for this wonderful conversation and his perspective on music, Bitwig and the community.
