Did you know that stressful life events, especially Childhood Trauma, can predict ADHD symptoms in some cases? Childhood trauma & negatively biased memory are risk factors for ADHD symptoms as well as inattention & hyperactivity/impulsivity symptom clusters. Strong associations have been found between abuse/neglect & ADHD in childhood & also in young adulthood! Extremely stressful or traumatic events, EVEN in the first few months of life, leads to a higher likelyhood of obesity, diabetes, asthma & anxiety when these kids become adults.
