All-new Nissan X-Trail Nissan Rogue test drive review - Autogefühl

With the new X-Trail, Nissan finished ist new SUV lineup -- with the X-Trail marking the biggest brother. Formerly a squarish offroad vehicle, the X-Trail has now become a puffed up Qashqai, delivering a continuous design language for the whole Nissan SUV range. Offroad fans of the old X-Trail won't like it, but let's face it -- most people do not buy the car for offroad driving. So the X-Trail is your choice, if you want to go on long trips -- and maybe even want to have the opportunity to drive with seven people in total. So the X-Trail also replaces the old Qashqai plus two. This vehicle here has the colour of Titanium Olive, a very elegant looking colour -- but just if you like the new brownish colours so many new cars are available in right now. For the launch in Europa, there will be a 1.6 litre Diesel engine with 130 hp. This one puts you to 100 kilometres an hour or 60 miles in 10.5 seconds. We would have expected a stronger engine for such a big car, and indeed in 2015 Nissan will release a turbo petrol engine for that car. In the US, you get a 2.5 litre petrol engine with 170 hp. In Germany, the new X-Trail starts at 26.500 Euro, in the UK at about 23.000 Pounds and in the US at 22.800 Dollars -- where you buy it under the name of Nissan Rogue. The new SUV look however does not mean that there are no offroad capabilities left. And it surely does look pretty offroad, doenst it? Let's take a detailed look at the new interior. This one is the contrasting bright interior for the Olive colour. After what we are used to -- very cheap and black plastic dominated interiors at Nissan -- this now is a big surprise. This might be the biggest change even for the whole model. Now, the interior quality tries to keep up with a modern taste for quality. Here you can also see how the 7-Seats-System works -- the seats in the back are rather suitable for kids or smaller persons, though. Lets switch to another colour, the orange-alike Copper Blaze. Here, we can also see the black interior with the new gps -- we got along with it very well and the display gives you a good overview. The dark interior is not that spectacular, but especially at the steering wheel you also see the new quality level Nissan offers. While driving, you also find pleasure with the panoramic glass roof -- especially good for the back passangers as they got the great sky view. If it gets too sunny, you can use an electric shade to cover the glass. We had the impression that the Nissan X-Trail is still very good at offroad driving, at least as for soft offroad. And thats what will most likely happen, if you someone goes offroad. So it still looks good and modern even if its muddy. In these trunk shots with the dark interior you can see once more that you have a lot of space in the back. The folded seats make a plain surface withouth a step, however you can see that the height is slightly increasing towards the front seats. The electric hatch is one comfort feature you can order -- brings you some luxury. The rear passsangers have a lot of legroom and also the upright seating position. And let us show you a third colour, Ebisu Black. So we can conclude: The new Nissan X-Trail will most likely catch the Qashqai +2 customers and most likely loose old offroad customers. Overall, this big but modern SUV suits the modern needs for space and comfort -- and still, the price stays in a reachable region. We appreciate your feedback -- and see you next time!
