This is a playthrough using Shin Akuma in the PS1 version of Street Fighter Alpha 2. Read on below for more information... Shin Akuma is a hidden penultimate boss character. He is an unlockable playable character in this version of the game. ===== How to select Shin Akuma ===== 1) On the character select screen, highlight Akuma with the cursor. 2) Now press and hold down the [SELECT] button, and press Down, Right, Right, Down, Left, Down, Left, Down, Right, Right, Right. Now press any button to confirm. If you've done it right, he should change into Shin Akuma. ===== Additional Information ===== ---- Obviously, he can only be fought against as a hidden boss in the game. ---- His personal boss in the game is Gen. ---- If you complete the game with him, you'll get regular Akuma's ending. ---- Even though he is technically a separate/'different' character in the game's data, he has regular Akuma's routes, interaction dialogues and ending. ---- Unlike regular Akuma, his winning quote is always ".........". ---- He of course, has a double air fireball. ---- As trademark, he has no stun time when dizzied. ---- He has virtually no recovery time at the end of his Teleports. ---- His fireball outlet is much faster than normal Akuma's. ---- He recovers faster at the end of his Rolls. ---- His Raging Demon travels faster and further than regular Akuma's. ---- His LK Air Hurricane Kick is slightly different to regular Akuma's one, his leg doesn't stick out as long at the beginning of it. (I actually think the regular Akuma's one is a slight flaw). ---- His pre-match intro is different to normal Akuma's. ---- Akuma is known as Gouki in Japan. ---- The game is known as Street Fighter Zero 2 in Japan. ===== About Shin Akuma ===== The more powerful true version of Akuma, basically the version of him where he doesn't hold back. Shin Akuma is no doubt the strongest character in this game, his Double Air Fireball gives him so much priority that it's ridiculous most of the time. The other aspects which make him so powerful are listed in the Additional Information section above. ===== About SFA2 ===== Street Fighter Alpha 2 improves on SFA1 by expanding the character roster and making it a much more well-rounded game overall. Gone are the chain combos (except for some characters) and a new Custom Combo feature is added to the game. This Custom Combo move is hugely important if you want to win in high-level competitive play. Personally, SFA2 will always hold a place in my heart... I actually like this more than SFA3 in some ways. I find the tighter gameplay and hit-pauses better in this game. Unfortunately SFA2 is the last game in the series to feature the jazzy-techno style of music. They moved onto a fast-paced half-electric style for SFA3. The PS1 version of SFA2 is watered-down a bit from the arcade version due to hardware limitations. At first glance it looks good enough, but if you have a good eye (like myself) you'll instantly notice the compromises they had to make for this port. These are things such as the lifebars looking different, the name text under the lifebars looking different, the 'ROUND' and 'FIGHT' sprites lacking shadows, lack of vibration when blocking and getting hit, missing reflections on the puddles of Gen's stage, cut animations for Zangief, Gen and Sakura, the missing 'Here Comes A New Challenger' banner, Strider not throwing his teddy into the air on Ken's stage, etc... yeah these are all trivial stuff but this kind of thing can disappoint enthusiasts like myself, especially as someone who sees the artistic side of fighting games...
