Twitter: / jancharles Pinterest: / jancharles Ingredients: 1 onion 4 cloves of garlic 2 teaspoons of sugar 2 teaspoons of black pepper 1 tablespoon of dried oregano 2 teaspoons of kosher salt About a cup of bread crumbs 2 eggs 2 pounds of ground beef String cheese, cut into small pieces Vegetable shortening (for deep-frying) Flour Buttermilk Panko breadcrumbs Instructions: In a food processor, combine the onion, garlic, sugar, black pepper, oregano, kosher salt, bread crumbs, and eggs. Mix until even. Add the mixture to the ground beef and mix by hand until just combined. Do not overmix. Divide the meat mixture into roughly equal-sized portions. Take a portion of the meat mixture and flatten it into a patty. Place a piece of string cheese in the center of the patty and roll it up, enclosing the cheese. Dredge the meatball in flour, then in an egg wash made with eggs and buttermilk, then in panko breadcrumbs. Heat vegetable shortening in a deep-fryer or on the stove in a pot until hot. Fry the meatballs until golden brown and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
