HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER STEEL CUT OATS. This meal prep, make ahead breakfast can be put in your slow cooker the night before and you will wake up to a warm and delicious bowl of steel cut oats. Steel cut oats are less processed, but have more nutritional value than the traditional old fashion or quick oats, but also take longer to cook. So use your crock pot to solve that problem and wake up to a customizable bowl of oatmeal. Remember they can be kept in the fridge for a week or out in the freezer. Either way they make a healthy, delicious and nutritious breakfast that is on the table in minutes because of a quick prep and a 35 minute bake the night before! How to make slow cooker steel cut oats Grease slow cooker with coconut oil, butter or cooking spray to avoid sticking. Dump in remaining ingredients: 1 cup steel cut oats 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 2 cups milk 2 cups water Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Stir, add in toppings (suggestions: bananas, maple syrup, nuts, dried fruit, nut butter) Enjoy!
