The Willamette Valley's favorite local band from the mid-80's, Reckless Abandon, is reuniting for a show at the Yamhill County Fair in McMinnville, Oregon. This video showcases their 30 year reunion show at the Drag the Gut Festival in downtown McMinnville in 2017, and presents a sample of the "Good Tunes for Good Times" that can be expected at the next show. Reckless Abandon was formed in 1985 by Andy Hunt, his brother Chris Hunt out of a band called The Hi-Tops with the addition of drummer Bob Johnson. The band had a series of sidemen helping to fill out the band's sound (Mike, McCaa, Jon Sherwood, Pete Norman, Rick Langlitz), but the turning point in the success of the band began when Bob's sister Karen Johnson joined the band on vocals in early 1986. Reckless Abandon played regularly at McMinnville's infamous Cedars Inn, clubs and bars up and down the Willamette Valley, Linfield College, and McMinnville High School events, and eventually playing some of Portland's top original music venues like The Last Hurrah and Eli's. The band dissolved in 1987, and band members went on with their lives with both Chris and Andy relocating to the East Coast. The Hunt brothers and the Johnsons are excited about the opportunity to play for a crowd again, and have been coordinating schedules and travel for rehearsals for the 2022 reunion show. Bob's daughter Emily Johnson (who made her debut at the 2017 reunion show) will return as a band member on keyboard and vocals.
