The all-new Marex 390 is a landmark launch for the Norwegian builder - and in this exclusive YachtBuyer video, Jack Haines delivers a full yacht tour and sea trial of hull number one just before its world premiere at the Cannes Boat Show 2025. At 12m (39.4ft) long and available with either stern drives or V-drive shafts, this owner-operator cruising yacht fills the gap between the 375 and 440 in the Marex range. Fitted here with twin Volvo Penta D4-320s on stern drives, it’s priced around €660,000 with options like fore/aft cameras, air-con and a foldable mast. On deck, the Marex 390 blends Marex’s known practicality with some thoughtful new touches. There’s no hydraulic platform, but the fixed stern area has been turned into a living space with a stowable table, deep lockers, auto hose reel, and a power cable system typically found on far larger yachts. Smart detailing continues in the cockpit with wraparound canvas protection, beautiful timber finishes, and deep, easily accessed storage under the seating. The single side door links neatly to wide, walkaround decks that lead to a flat, usable bow with sunbathing space and a clever float-off cushion. Inside, the 390 features a bright, sociable saloon with a nicely specified starboard galley, three fridges, induction or gas cooking, and excellent cooling options including solar-fed batteries. There are two proper cabins: a forward owner’s suite with full walkaround space and good storage, plus a large amidships double beneath the cockpit with extra seating and an optional child berth conversion. A single bathroom with separate shower caters for both. The decor across the boat reflects Marex’s tidy, user-first design. Out on the water, the Marex 390 with D4-320s hit 30 knots on test. Cruising in the mid-20s, the hull proved responsive with Humphree trim handling pitch and heel. The joystick system and bow thruster make tight berthing manageable, and the helm design delivers comfort, visibility, and clarity for solo or short-handed cruising. Whether you choose the D4s or upgrade to the D6 440s, this feels like a well-rounded, practical cruiser that lands squarely in the sweet spot for private owners.
