Good morning, friends and families! Thank you for joining us! We hope you are doing well on this much warmer Thursday morning. Myra's heat cycle is progressing! She's willing to accept male attention, so it's time for us to bring Macchiato around to help facilitate. Though we are bringing them together, it's still a little early for an actual mating. Dogs need an opportunity to court each other. You can think of it is as being like a dating and engagement period before marriage. In other regards, its a bit like "choreplay;" Macchiato will do nice things for Myra over the next week; save his food for her, run to guard her whenever there's any commotion, etc. So with the others outside, we bring them together and they flirt with each other. They lick each other's faces and ears, cuddle, etc. Myra is laying back into Macchiato as he licks her face from behind, and any time Macchiato makes a bit of a move too fast, she growls at him. This process will go on for a few days before they "do the deed." This courting behavior continues through her heat cycle and evolves throughout the pregnancy. You'll be able to see on the puppy livestream what I'm talking about, which we will get started soon! We invite the families and friends of our puppies 'into' our home to watch their puppy thrive and grow. You are viewing some of our current Cavalier puppies. We perform all of their care on the livestream for families to see and be part of, including vaccinations, weight checks, dewormings, socialization, and so more. We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with an emphasis on their emotional-social development. We have raised many puppies for the distinct purpose for becoming Emotional Support Animals. This breed of dog has a temperament that is ripe for therapeutic bonding. We nurture those characteristics to help bring them out and optimize them further. We potty train our puppies using pine pellets designed for rehydration. The timing is important because as they get older, they crawl away from their nest to potty and poop - so we want them to go to the pellets! Our puppies typically understand where to go potty within about a week of practice, and they use the potty tray on their own.. By about 6-7 weeks old, they begin waking during the night to use the potty tray. Our young puppies are kept in our master bedroom for 24-hour observation and care. We leave the audio on so that viewers are able to hear the puppies' vocalizations, but that means you may overhear some personal interactions. We prefer this format because we are able to easily provide context or clarity to viewers if necessary. We show you how we potty train our puppies beginning around 7 days old, plus how we nurture their development throughout their 8 weeks with us to hand off a well-trained puppy to their family.
