Today's video is about one of my first 'real' models (something that wasn't out of a 90s Bachmann trainset), a Broadway Limited Imports Blueline USRA Light Mikado for Union Pacific. BLI's Blueline series was a way to afford a nice-looking model that was equipped with sound that ran on DC, but you could add a separate mobile decoder for DCC operations (this was apparently common in the late 2000s/early 2010s I suppose?). This was one of the first models if not the first that I installed DCC and sound into, but I wanted to take this model further and model it after a specific prototype, its namesake (numbersake?) 2480. Looking at photos of the real UP 2480 I could see all the differences that my model had from the prototype and decided to make changes to better reflect this. Some things I did not mention in the video but probably should have - The weathering is just drybrushing techniques and cheap $1 craft acrylic paints from an arts & crafts store. The stock classification lamps are an 'old' style that do not fit with the late career 2480 I'm portraying, so those will be changed out and maybe made functional with LEDs in the future. The original speakers may get swapped, but I haven't decided on this, in all honesty they sound fine and unless they start to fail and crackle, I'll keep them as they are. 00:00 Unboxing the model 02:20 - Workbench Photos 05:40 - Running Session 08:36 Outro
