Monell was honored to host Lindsay Macpherson, PhD to speak on March 2, 2025 as part of the Monell Spring 2025 Seminar Series. Dr. Macpherson was invited to present on the Dynamics of Innervation and Synapse Formation in the Taste Bud by Monell faculty member, Dr. Peihua Jiang. Dr. Jiang aims to: 1) identify and characterize adult taste stem cells, with a focus on the mechanisms supporting taste tissue homeostasis; 2) understand how the taste and gut systems adapt to dietary nutrients and infectious agents; 3) understand the relationship between taste receptor function and an animal’s feeding ecology.
