In this short 'spiritual inquiry', we explore a hidden barrier to direct experience: the tendency to identify as the observer, awareness, or even “I am.” Many teachings encourage witnessing thoughts, but what happens when the sense of an observer itself dissolves? Is there a deeper non-dual experience beyond both the thinker and the watcher? This video points toward immediate, unfiltered presence; an experience without duality, without detachment, and without the subtle escape of standing outside life. Instead of observing joy, pain, or discomfort, what if there is only the raw experience itself? If you’re drawn to non-duality, awakening, self-inquiry, or teachings on presence and consciousness, this reflection may resonate. 🌿 Topics explored: Direct experience vs. conceptual experience The illusion of the separate self Non-duality and the end of observer/observed split Awareness, presence, and identification Spiritual bypassing through detachment Being vs. watching being Living without psychological separation 🔍 Key questions in this video Who is the observer? Is witnessing another identity for the ego? What remains when there is no watcher? Can experience exist without “me” experiencing it? 🧘 Ideal for viewers interested in: Nonduality • Advaita Vedanta • Awakening • Self-realisation • Presence • Consciousness • Spiritual inquiry • Meditation • Eckhart Tolle–style teachings • Direct path spirituality • Letting go of ego • Radical acceptance If this resonates, consider subscribing for more reflections on awakening, presence, and living without separation. 📌 Suggested search terms this video answers: direct experience nonduality, observer illusion spirituality, no self teaching, awareness vs observer, nondual meditation insight, beyond ego spirituality, witnessing consciousness trap, awakening inquiry Transcript: Hi ya! I'm just gonna make a quick video on one of the things that can sometimes be a little barrier to what we can call direct experience. So experience without duality or an “I”. So it seems that at the start things you/we can think, and I certainly thought, you know—belief, believing in our thoughts, believing in concepts and ideas and the notion of “I”, in this separation, in this separate world. And then for a lot of people they read something like “The Power of Now” and suddenly realize they can observe their thoughts, and then there’s this separation from our thoughts all of a sudden, and then we get taught “I am the observer” or “I am awareness” or even “I am God”, and it’s like the “I”, the “I am”, attaches to something new, and this little trick it plays—it’s a sneaky little one, quite subtle. So just being the observer, and then as soon as we’re the observer there’s that duality again: there’s the observer and what is observed. Or being awareness—there’s being aware and what we’re aware of. And so I still, you know, from time to time, find catching myself being the observer, and it’s usually when there’s some discomfort or, you know, a form of something we don’t like, or thoughts we don’t like, and it’s a form of escapism or detachment from it in a way. You know, you don’t ever really—well, I never have been in a joyful moment and gone “oh, I’m the observer of this joyful moment”. No, you’re just in that joyful moment, in that direct experience. So what if you did the same to all of experience—just being direct with it, whether it’s seemingly joyful, painful, what have you. Removing the observer, removing the idea of awareness. What would you be if there was no observer? What is this with no observer? And then there is no separation. You are direct with experience if you just take away that observer. #Nonduality #Awakening #Spirituality #SelfInquiry #Presence #Advaita #Consciousness #NoSelf #Meditation #DirectExperience
