In this video... I finally reveal a painting I've been hiding for 2 years. It started as "Violet Flame" in my Miami studio in 2021. Then a solo trip to Japan in 2024 — the indigo dyes, the pottery glazes, and seeing Rothko's Seagram murals — changed everything. I painted over the original and "Violet Water" was born. Many moons ago in 2014 I was an engineer in the oil and gas industry… and I was depressed and wildly unfulfilled. In 2019, I started painting again after having shut down my art-making side for most of my 20's - because they said you couldn't make money as an artist. Growing up, I was always making art. In 2020, I sold my first painting thanks to covid (wow). 2020-2025: For the last five years, it's been quite the journey, and now here we are, a full time professional artist, just like I always wanted as a kid.
