GOTO Track 01 // Rewind & Repeat "BROKEN VECTOR" is a new entry in my ongoing PSX series, a collection of records I’ve been building around the spirit of 90s and Y2K atmospheric drum and bass, ambient jungle, early liquid DnB, and the strange emotional weight of PlayStation 1–2 soundtracks. Every release in this series feels like uncovering a lost game from a parallel timeline. This one might be the most fragile and mechanical chapter yet. In this imagined PS1 title, you pilot a prototype mecha known as BROKEN VECTOR, a unit recovered from a sealed research facility after a classified orbital defense project collapsed. The game is a third-person, low-poly action exploration title with fog-heavy draw distances, shimmering skyboxes, and metallic textures that warp slightly as the camera pans. Your mission is simple on paper: descend through the abandoned vertical megastructure called The Spindle and retrieve its core memory banks. In reality, every layer of the tower feels unstable, like the world itself is misaligned. You move through derelict hangars suspended above an endless ocean, through botanical biodomes where pixelated sunlight refracts across overgrown steel, and into submerged data vaults where your mecha’s boosters leave trails of bubbles in dark teal water. The BROKEN VECTOR unit is damaged from the start; its dash thrusters stutter, its targeting reticle flickers, and certain weapons only activate after absorbing stray energy from the environment. Corrupted maintenance drones swarm in erratic patterns, old security mechs patrol with half-functioning AI, and entire sectors collapse into geometric voids where collision physics behave unpredictably. Yet there is beauty everywhere: distant auroras glitched into the skybox, wind turbines turning slowly against a burnt orange horizon, and quiet rooms where nothing attacks you at all. The game is about descent, but also about listening to the machine breathe as you guide it carefully through something that was never meant to be entered again. The production of the album is mainly centered around textures, one-shots and breaks coming from 90s sample CDs, together with selected samples, chops, melodic flips and atmospheric manipulations of PSX soundtracks. Best enjoyed while watching rain slide down a train window as the city lights blur into streaks of neon, but also just while studying, walking home late, or letting your thoughts idle for a while. I’m really grateful you’re here with me for another chapter of this strange PSX archive I’m building. Every listen, every comment, every bit of support means more than I can properly explain. I’m working hard to grow into the artist I imagine when I make these worlds, and I truly hope you like this record.
