The God of Scripture is lopsided. Such is the assertion of New Testament scholar William Webb. Drawing on imagery from Exodus (34:6-7), Webb points out that God's predisposition toward love and grace far outbalances his inclination to justice and punishment. "Yahweh," writes Webb, "is predisposed toward love and forgiveness in lavish proportions compared with his very restricted desire to enact justice/punishment. Yahweh is a profoundly gracious God." (Italics in the original). An examination of the God of love at the heart of Adventism underlines this assertion. At the heart of many of Adventism's key beliefs we find a God of inexpressible love.
