Brahms once described Schumann's wife in this way: "My best melodies came from Clara". Many scholars compare Clara to the child prodigy Mozart because she has been traveling around the world since she was nine years old. In addition to playing the piano, she also composed and conducted music. After having married Robert Schumann, Clara became the mother of eight children, she was a wife and mother, teacher, performer, composer, and assistant conductor. Even when Schumann was seriously ill and forced to resign from his conducting post later, Clara shouldered the burden of the whole family without saying a word. She managed to play and teach piano and raised money for Schumann’s medical expenses and child support. She stayed by her husband’s side and remained loyal to him to the end. Schumann's marriage to Clara was enviable to everyone. He often dedicated music to his beloved wife and shared a great marriage with her. For Brahms, Schumann cherishes him as his own son and never hesitated to support him in public, even taking Brahms as his protege.
