The 2022 Birdathon is just around the corner! Our skilled team will set out on a mission to count as many bird species as possible on May 28, 2022, an annual fundraising event supporting the amazing work happening here at Whitefish Point Bird Observatory! The 2021 Birdathon was a successful and exciting day, with 152 species counted! Our field staff and dedicated volunteers worked together to identify species such as the Parasitic Jaeger, Red-throated Loon, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, and Piping Plover throughout the day! As you know, this small, keystone event in support of WPBO that we call Birdathon is about so much more than a single day or even the list of species seen — it’s a celebration of the habitat of the Point itself, of the abundance of birds that pass through during spring migration, and an invitation to supporters to make a gift to help support and sustain Whitefish Point Bird Observatory. Learn more about what makes Birdathon an important part of sustaining our work at the Point by visiting https://wpbo.org/birdathon/. Thank you for being a friend and supporter to Whitefish Point in the past, and for playing a part in preserving this special place for birds and people for generations to come. This video was produced by 2021 WPBO Summer Outreach Intern Blake Carlile.
