There is also a shop, where you can purchase gifts for friends and family. Shrewsbury Prison, known as "The Dana," is a former Category B/C prison in Shropshire, England, operating from 1793 to 2013. Designed by Thomas Telford and William Blackburn, it now serves as a top-rated tourist attraction offering guided tours by former officers, ghost tours, and escape experiences. It showcases 200+ years of history, including Victorian, Georgian, and modern cells, as well as execution rooms. Key Information & History Location: Situated on Howard Street (SY1 2HP) near the train station. History: Built in 1793 with expansions in 1868, it replaced a former county gaol. The name "The Dana" originates from the site's history. Decommissioning: Closed in 2013 by the Ministry of Justice.
