We went to the GP after oxygen levels dropped to 72%. We didn’t leave the building — an ambulance was called. This vlog shows the very beginning of an unexpected hospital stay with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and how quickly things escalated. In this video you’ll see: • Going to the GP with critically low oxygen • An ambulance being called from the waiting room • A&E admission and immediate oxygen support • IV antibiotics and IV fluids • Dad driving an hour and a half from work to get to us • Ward admission • Chest X-ray • ECG (heart tracing) • Our ward room tour • Hospital dinner • How we stay entertained during long hospital hours • The reality of being a full-time carer inside hospital • How parents manage to eat during hospital stays • Dad going home to pack hospital bags we weren’t expecting to need • Dad leaving for the night • The reality of an unplanned NHS hospital stay This vlog doesn’t explain everything straight away — because this was only the start. ▶️ What’s coming next in this hospital series: • Oxygen stabilising • A blood clot caused by a cannula • Heart attack risk • IV antibiotics continuing • Severe sickness • Extreme carer exhaustion and loss of sleep • Ward leave • Bed rest for a month • Finally going home after 4 days ❤️ Subscribe to follow the rest of this hospital journey and help raise awareness for HLHS, CHD, and full-time carers.
