Did you know when you put NEW foam in an OLD stretched cover, it will look flat and baggy? By adding fibre to the Top, Front, and Bottom it will fill out the fabric better and give your cushion a more full and rounded look. Whether it's a seat or back cushion the width will determine the front of your seat or the top of the back. This will be the only side that will be covered with fibre. Normally SEAT CUSHIONS are covered top, front, and bottom. BACK CUSHIONS are wrapped front, top, and back. If you have an end seat or a chair seat, the lugs will also be covered on the side. For normal fibre wrapping, we use fibre that is approximately one and a quarter-inch thick. You can also get fibre in half-inch, two-inch, and three-inch thicknesses. Since the fibre is so soft you don't need to make an allowance for the fibre when you figure out the foam thickness. The fibre will compress and fill in all the gaps properly. Now, the majority of the seats have foam in them but some backs do not. Instead, they are either filled with: a little bit of foam that is wrapped a couple of times with fibre, with loose fibre, a mix of stick foam and fibre or just stick foam alone for more durability and a firmer feel than fibre. In summary, here are FIVE good reasons for fibre wrapping: 1. Most upholsterers and cushion designers recommend it. 2. It gives the finished cushion a more full and rounded look. 3. It fills gaps in the fabric better - especially if you're working with old fabric that has stretched. 4. It prevents wrinkling of loose fabric, and finally 5. it prevents the foam from ripping because there is no friction between the fabric and the foam. You can order the different types of fibre and back fillings in the BACK section. Thank you for watching our fibre wrapping video.
