Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Malone Foldaway-5 kayak or standup paddle board carrier, right here at etrailer. If you're not sure what you're gonna be carrying around, whether it's a standup paddle board, a large canoe, or a kayak, this is what you would use because of its versatility. So, it's the Malone Foldaway-5, so I'll talk about five different configurations you can have this kayak here in. So, the first configuration is the two kayak configuration. So, it's in the stacked position where it's not really J style. This way, you can minimize the space you take up on your roof, and carry around more kayaks. So, compared to some other kayak carriers, like the Yakima JayLow, where you can technically put it into the two kayak configuration, but they only give you one set of straps, this has a complete set of two cam buckle straps per kayak, as well as two bow and stern straps per kayak. So, this is the bow and stern hooks that we have included with our Malone Foldaway-5. So, great if you already have a hitch or places to tie these down, but if you don't have any tie down points, I do recommend picking up the etrailer cam buckle kayak kit, and that has a dogbone anchor you can leave inside, as well as padded cam buckles. Just a little extra to make things a bit easier. These are the cam buckle straps included with this kit. You also have a padding on the back in case it does touch your kayak. Now, I do recommend going over your kayak carrier, around your roof rack, around your kayak carrier again, and then cinching down for the best fit. So, now we're gonna take our kayak off, so that you can see how the carrier looks, and then we'll switch it around too. So, here we have it in the stacker position. There's a little strap keeper up there, just to make it easier for you to get your straps already up there ahead of time. And then you have these levers to this side. What they do is, when you pull the lever out, it loosens that mast, and then you can pivot it back and forth for your different configurations. So, we'll go to configuration number two, which is the J style carrier. So, we're gonna leave this in the J style position, and you can take out this extension piece if you're gonna have just one kayak up there. I'm gonna leave this here because we're gonna take a look at that later. So, here's your traditional J style kayak carrier. A great way to carry around a single kayak without taking up too much space. So, we're using a single set of straps and bow and stern ropes, and we have it secured to our roof rack, just like that. The benefits of a J style kayak carrier is, since it's at an angle, it feels more secure putting the kayak up on there since it leans on the carrier, compared to the upright stacker position. We're gonna set this to the large canoe configuration. So, we're gonna pull those levers, fold this down, secure those levers again, and then we're gonna push our extension piece out. So, the distance you push this out depends on the width of your boat. So go ahead, loosen those up so you can make that happen. So, once it's loose, it's easy to slide back and forth to however far you need it. Go take your measurements and then tighten that back down. This is our third configuration, which is the large boat or canoe configuration. And that's really gonna be up to you with the dimensions of your hull or your canoe with getting the right fit. To help you take those measurements, for our first carrier there's gonna be 14 inches from the end of the carrier, to right where it sticks up here. Since there is gonna be an open gap, you don't want to have too much space in between. You wanna make it fit just right. Now, with those heavier canoes, remember there is a weight capacity of 75 pounds with this. Also, you are limited by how much weight do you really wanna lift onto your roof. To bring it into the next configuration, just bring your extension piece closer to your main carrier, grab your foam block, fit that right into that slot, and now you have the paddle board configuration. Well, this is what it looks like with a paddle board on your Foldaway-5. You have that foam block underneath, and honestly, it doesn't really matter where you have your carrier in terms of width, because your paddle board is going to be sitting on top of your carrier. So, you are gonna have those two straps included that go over your paddle board, but there's some extra straps that you can get for the front and the ba
