Slurry lather with Saponificio Varesino today. A great soap for that method! Razor: Yaqi - Final Cut Adjustable (Setting 4) Blade: Astra - Superior Platinum (4) Lather: Saponificio Varesino - Cubebe Brush: Semogue - Owner's Club Taj (101 uses) Post: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary Razor and Blade Notes - Yaqi - Final Cut Adjustable (Setting 4) ::: Astra - Platinum (4 uses): Easily mowed down two weeks or more of growth. I did have to rinse frequently during the first pass to free the clogs, but a setting of 4 was just fine. Setting of 2 for rest of shave was comfy and efficient. Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 4 out of 5 (Very Good) Soap Notes - Saponificio Varesino - Cubebe: Them: "The characteristic fragrance features a citrusy, balsamic and aromatic top note of bergamot, lemon and white fir. ~ The top notes give way to a slightly floral body note with spicy hints of pepper and nutmeg. ~ At its base is a woody, musky and slightly amber background note of patchouly, vetiver, labdanum and benzoin." Scent: I got the citrus, and figure that there are some supportive woody and lightly floral notes in there too. No pepper scent, though. Everything else is just so well-blended that I can't pick it out. I like it, but it doesn't have much character, to be honest. Scent Strength: 6/10, nicely present during shaving. Lather: slurried well today, even on such long stubble. I did have to add just a bit of water, but that was likely due to the stubble. Hydration: Perfect (for me) 17 sec load with a Very Wet brush = 3 passes of lather Bowl: No Bowl Brush Notes - Semogue - Owner's Club Taj (101 uses): Great today. pretty soft, and always a great slurry lather brush. *Shave Quality* During the Shave Feel: Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable Neck: Felt blade but comfortable After the Shave Closeness: Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get Neck: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get I'm gradually adding answers to frequent questions here: http://www.sugardaddyshaves.com Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.
