In this lesson on The Doctrine of God, we explored who God is and how He has made Himself known (John 17:3). We began by affirming that God is an uncreated, eternal Spirit who exists before and beyond all creation (John 4:24; Psalm 90:2; Colossians 1:16–17). We discussed how God reveals His existence through creation, conscience, and Scripture, and most fully through Jesus Christ (Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:19–20; Hebrews 1:1–2; John 1:18). While God is truly knowable, we acknowledged that He is not exhaustible, meaning we can know Him relationally without fully comprehending Him (Job 11:7; Romans 11:33; 1 Corinthians 13:12). We also examined the character of God through His attributes, distinguishing between those that belong to God alone and those He shares with humanity as image-bearers (Genesis 1:26–27). These attributes reveal both God’s transcendence and His nearness (Isaiah 57:15; Psalm 145:18). We then focused on the Trinity, affirming that God is one in essence and three in persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). Each Person is fully God with distinct yet complementary roles in creation and redemption (Ephesians 1:3–6; Colossians 1:15–20; John 14:16–17). This understanding helps us see the Godhead as relational, purposeful, and actively involved in restoring humanity (2 Corinthians 5:18–19). Watch
