Wildlife Photography on SVALBARD | Preparing & first trip - Ep.1

In this video I am getting my equipment ready for my 4 weeks photo trip to Svalbard. First week is with my dad and after that a photo assignment is my first priority. This is the 1st episode from my 4 weeks photo travel to Svalbard. For quite a while now I have been planning this 1 month trip to Svalbard, and now finally the time has come. I am going to spend the first week together with my dad, and I am really looking forward to having such a father and son trip. I have added some new solar panels to my equipment and I am quite confident, that they will supply me with sufficient power for this trip where I am going to camp remotely for several days. To be well prepared for less ideal situations I am practicing pitching the tent in my backyard to get the rutines needed. When arriving Svalbard dad and I are going on our first trip to a cabin. It is a nice hike and a beautiful location. On the way we meet reindeer but there is no time for photography. My priority is to get to the cabin before anyone gets tired. After all it is many year since we have hiked together. When dad leaves Svalbard work will start for me. I have an assignment that I can not reveal at this moment, but I am sure many of you will see it within the next month or so... ••• WHO I AM ••• My name is Morten Hilmer and I am a professional nature and wildlife photographer. I work as a ILCP photographer, and nature conservation is very close to my heart. I have served in the Danish military special unit, the Sirius Patrol, for two years and that has given me the skills and confidence to operate alone in the arctic regions. I have spent two further years in the northern parts of Greenland meeting the local people and working on photography projects. My driving force is a sense of adventure and my fascination for nature, and my curiosity and empathy for other cultures has led me to many remote regions.
