Single-arm work is a staple in our training. But switching your hands during twohanded swings? That adds a whole different layer. In this video, we break down how to safely and effectively switch grips during common steel mace movements like: -10 to 2 swings -Curl casts -Over the shoulder variations -Choking up and down on the handle Hand switching introduces asymmetry, improves coordination, and builds serious proprioception and dexterity. You can’t really see what your hands are doing mid-swing — which means you have to develop awareness, timing, and control. Done right, it adds a unique dynamic challenge. Done wrong… you might send your mace through a window. This is about maintaining control while letting go, repositioning, and re-gripping — all under load and momentum. We don’t spend all phases of training focused on this, but at different points it’s a powerful skill builder that keeps training fresh and engaging.
