Strasburg 89 is the one engine at Strasburg, I never really seem to see, when visiting Strasburg. It was the second Operational Canadian Steam Locomotive at Strasburg having been purchased in 1972, to pull the Half Hourly Trains. In January of 2021, the first Steam Engine I filmed in 4K was 89, as I was testing out my New Canon camera at that time. Later that year, in November, during an HTP Steam Special Photo Charter, 89 would power the Passenger Trains. Wearing a Pennsylvania Banshee, this was probably my favorite video I have got with 89 so far. As there was a photo special out that day, 89 put on a show for us each time it passed. And then finally, the rest of the video in this director's cut comes from my adventure to Strasburg last Spring. Having never done a director's cut with 89 before, I decided to use all of my 4K Footage I have of 89 meaning the stuff Pre 2021, was not used. Join me now trackside, on 89's trek from Strasburg to Leemans Place Junction & return, from a January Winter, a Windy March Spring & November Fall Photo Charter, as we watch Strasburg's 2-8-0 operate on the road to Paradise. Canadian National 89, is an E-10-A Type 2-6-0 Mogul Steam Locomotive, built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1910. It was originally built for the Grand Trunk Railway originally numbered 1009. In 1961, it was purchased by F Nelson Blount and would begin operating on the Green Mountain Railroad. In 1972, it was purchased by the Strasburg Railroad where it has remained ever since. It was placed in Service there in 1973. It underwent a rebuild in the 80s, and returned in 1988. In 2003 it would be modified and repainted to its 1950s Canadian National Appearance, and give the proper Strasburg treatment. It has remained this way ever since. Its last 1472 Day inspection was completed in 2017. As we continue through the director's cut season, Next week will be Arcade & Attica 18. Follow that, we got 765, and the Double Header TVRM Summerville Steam Special Director's Cut. If all goes well, my next adventure will be the East Broad Top, for the Winter Spectacular. After that, as it was recently announced the #4014 East Coast tour will begin in the spring, I await dates for when the locomotive gets close to me. I look forward to see the #bigboy again this year. While I also have a tentative list of things I want to film, remember if you want to stay up to date with my adventures follow me on my socials below!
