Within the next four hours, three more attempts followed - two of them successful. Responsibility for them was claimed by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine which eventually assembled three airliners - together with passengers and crew - at a "Revolution Airstrip" in the desert north-east of Amman. A threat was issued that both planes and passengers would be blown up if the guerrillas' demands, which included the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, were not met.
