Subra Suresh ScD ’81 Dean, School of Engineering 2007–2010 Vannevar Bush Professor of Engineering Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and of Biological Engineering Director, National Science Foundation 2010–present Subra Suresh has served on the governing board of the Singapore—MIT Alliance, the MIT Portugal Program, and the IMDEA Materials Institute in Madrid, Spain, and as a member of the Advisory Board of Technology Review India. Before becoming director of the National Science Foundation in 2010, he was the Vannevar Bush professor of engineering and dean of the MIT School of Engineering. Professor Suresh served as head of the Department of Materials, Science, and Engineering and is still affiliated with that department, as well as with the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Biological Engineering, and the Harvard—MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.
