Join me, Early Spring Mushroom Hunting in the forests of Western Washington! On this mushroom walk, we'll explore early April Mushrooms here in the Pacific Northwest. If you're in neighboring regions here in the PNW, like WA State, Oregon, Northern California or British Columbia, there's a good chance you're seeing a lot of these same mushrooms fruiting right now along your favorite hiking trails. That said, even if you're in Europe or the UK, there is always a lot of overlap, so it's likely we're seeing similar mushrooms. I continue to keep my eyes peeled for the Early Morel (Verpa bohemica), but it still hasn't raised its head in my favorite little Cottonwood patches just yet. That said, there is lots to see in the forest this time of year - and I can't wait to get into flushes of Morels and Spring King Boletes in the days ahead. Here is a quick overview of some of the wild mushrooms and other natural wonders that you can expect to encounter in this episode: 00:00 Intro 00:26 Common Eyelash Cup Fungus (Scutellinia scutellata) 02:07 Spring Fieldcap (Agrocybe praecox) 04:55 Skunk Cabbage (Lysichiton americanus) 05:42 Spring Orange Peel Fungus (Caloscypha fulgens) 09:05 Cool Mycelium Example 09:28 Dog Sick Slime Mold (Mucilago crustacea) 10:44 Black-Footed Polypore (Picipes badius) 12:54 Artist's Conk (Ganoderma applanatum) 16:20 Veiled Polypore (Cryptoporous volvatus) 20:34 Violet Toothed Polypore (Trichaptum abietinum) 21:55 Panther Cap (Amanita pantherinoides) 24:53 Brittle Cinder (Kretzschmaria deusta) 26:24 Fibercap (Inocybe Genus) 28:28 False Turkey Tail (Strereum hirsute) 31:02 True Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) 33:42 Bald Eagle Calls 35:03 Outro This footage was filmed in the first week of April in Western Washington.
