Fish Relocation at Moor Pool SSSI | Tatton Estate Water Improvement Project Teams gathered at Moor Pool in Knutsford to carefully relocate fish from the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as part of one of the region’s most significant water improvement projects in decades. Working with partners including United Utilities, the Environment Agency and Natural England, specialists carefully netted and transferred fish to new homes in nearby waters ahead of restoration work to improve the long-term health of the pool. On the first day alone, the team safely relocated: • 19 pike • 24 bream • 1 carp • Large numbers of roach and perch The work forms part of a wider £48 million programme to improve water quality and environmental resilience within the Tatton Mere catchment, helping to restore and protect this important natural habitat for future generations.
