I really appreciate your interest and feedback and will try to respond to your comments ASAP. Thanks again for watching. I have done reviews on Clynelish before and will have to admit (without guilt) that I have enjoyed the whisky from this Diageo distillery ever since I was introduced to it. This is another comparison between the popular standard core range Clynelish 14 at 46% abv and a new guy on the block released in 2022, the Clynelish 12 "The Golden Eyed Guardian" at 58.5% abv. I really tried to get info on the specs from the distillery staff on the Clynelish 14 and the best I could do was very little if no colour has been added. There could be some Sherry cask influence but that's as good as it gets. There was more info on the Clynelish 12 which is a PX and Oloroso cask finished whisky at natural cask strength, non chill filtered and natural colour. If the Twelve is natural colour I can believe the Fourteen is also because they are so close in colour I can't distinguish between them. Regardless of the criticism you'll hear about Diageo, for the last 100 years Clynelish has been thought of as a high quality whisky that is sought out by both the blenders and Scotch whisky connoisseurs. We are seeing more special releases by Diageo that are high ABV and non chill filtered. I more than welcome that from Diageo but not some of the exorbitant prices on these releases. I will talk about that in the video. Thankfully the Clynelish 14 is still at a reasonable price as compared to the market today (regardless of the non-chilled filtration argument). So I will do the shoot out between the two and let's see how they compare. So sit back with your favorite dram and enjoy the video.
