The goal of this session was to experiment more with controlled randomness both on the Matrixbrute and Microfreak, to use the LYRA 8 as an insert effect, and to try out a disting algorithm I'm less familiar with. Matrixbrute in duo-split mode with lower voice in sequencer-arpeggiator mode OSC 1 is square OSC 2 is triangle OSC 3 is sawtooth External is Mutable Instruments Plaits in Particle noise mode. OSC 1&2 receive modulation from LFO1 to their respective timbre controls as well as V/Oct from Disting Mk. 4 in F6 Shift Register Random Quantized CV mode playing minor triad + 7th using the upper keyboard section as root selection. Disting Mk.4 is triggered by LFO1 in smooth random mode. Whenever LFO1 reaches +2V it triggers a change in pitch for OSC1&2 and triggers the System 1-m ENV controlling Plaits with a long slow envelope. Plaits receives modulation from System 1-m LFO in sine wave mode to Timbre and Morph parameters. OSC 1, 2, and External are routed to VCF1 Steiner in 12dB/oct bandpass mode. Drive / Brute/ Resonance are all set up to the edge of breakup. Cutoff modulated by LFO 2 & red noise. OSC 3 is routed to VCF2 Ladder in 12dB/oct lowpass mode. Drive / Brute / Resonance set for a nice slow moving resonance sweep. Modulated by LFO2 Modwheel controls Disting Mk. 4 pattern lock, when the wheel is all the way up it loops the last 4 quantized CVs M1 controls OSC 1 level M2 controls OSC 2 level M3 controls external input level Some built in stereo delay and LYRA 8 connected to the Matrixbrute as an insert effect adding mono delay and drive. Microfreak in Speech mode. OSC parameters, cutoff, and cycling envelope rise / fall time are all modulated by a mixture of cycling envelope, LFO, and Arp / Keys to create randomly morphing textural variation, words, and chopped up vocal timbres with a little bit of variation in pitch. Using the filter in bandpass mode Making use of arp pattern mode synced via CV clock. I also manually modulate the octave button, change the decay time to stack up notes, change the arp rate, and add some spice / dice to break up the sequence. Running through 20% wet Source Audio Nemesis in degrade delay mode. #synth #synthesizer #microfreak #arturia #matrixbrute
