This is from a previous Patreon video. For the most current tutorials, please visit / andreanelson I painted this a few times in preparation for the tutorial, and every time I was left feeling like it looked too heavy for a hummingbird, so in this one I decided to make a conscious effort to keep my colors very light and to not overwork it. I think the result is really soft and sweet, which is exactly what I wanted. I also think it's a great example of how a) practice is super helpful when trying to make something that feels like a finished piece and b) going into a painting with intention, whether it's color, aesthetic, or just plain old vibes, can help guide you through a painting. In this tutorial, I used the following supplies, but any brand will work! You can find my shop at https://www.adreamoradayart.com/ Watercolor paper in 9x9 (This was Arches) https://amzn.to/4eXwG8F Artist tape https://www.adreamoradayart.com/produ... Posca colored pencils https://amzn.to/4089QVt Dr Martin's bleedproof white https://amzn.to/4lfR9HM A pencil In this lesson, I show you how to transfer a line drawing onto watercolor paper using just a pencil and some tracing. The line drawing can be found on Patreon at / andreanelson . You will just need to print it to the size you want, or you can try to draw it, which I highly recommend! The reference I used for this line drawing can be found at https://unsplash.com/photos/ruby-thro... but you will see in the lesson that we use it only for the shape of the bird and the rest is just imagination!
