844 Northern Crosses Donner Pass Westbound

Here is part I of some footage I shot of the 844 Northern working its way up over the Sierra Nevada Westward on Thursday, 9/27/2012. I wanted to capture this event in a unique way I thought no one else would. Everyone seems to want to be right in front of the locomotive and essentially getting the same shot over and over. Listen closely to the whistle in this video (Shot in full HD), It's a deep, vibrant resonate sound that carries for miles! So, what better way to hear that than from a mountain top! The behemoth steam engine climbed to the top of the Sierra, stopped just short of tunnel 41 and blew the whistle 5 times! I lost count how many times the sound would echo off the basin walls!
