This snack is super simple to make and can be enjoyed as a warm dessert. Ingredients • 3 large plantains (ripe, not green) • 120g all-purpose flour • 30g rice flour (optional) • 25g granulated sugar • 1/4 teaspoon salt • Approximately 240g cold water • Vegetable oil, for deep frying Method 1. Peel the plantains. Slice to your liking. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, rice flour (if using),sugar, and salt. 3. Gradually add the cold water to the dry ingredients, whisking constantly, until you have a smooth batter with the consistency of pancake batter – it should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, but not too thick. Adjust water as needed. 4. Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep pan or wok to reach a depth of about 2-3 inches. Heat the oil over medium-high heat. You can test the oil by dropping a tiny bit of batter or chopsticks 5. Dip each plantain piece into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. 6. Carefully place the coated plantains into the hot oil, one by one, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary. 7. Fry the plantains for about 3-5 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. 8. Once cooked, remove the Pisang Goreng with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. 9. Serve hot. Pisang Goreng is delicious on its own, or you can serve it with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, a drizzle of syrup, or a scoop of ice cream.
