#poundcake #thanksgivingdessert #holiday Every dinner table needs a great pound cake for desert! This is a simple yet delicate bakery-style pound cake recipe. It is very rich, dense and delicious! Brown crust on the outside - decadent, dense and moist on the inside! Can be enjoyed with or without a glaze it even some vanilla ice cream! Ingredients used 3 cups All purpose flour 3 cups sugar (I cut it down to 2.5) 1 teaspoon Baking powder 5 eggs @ room temperature 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon lemon extract 1 cup (2 sticks) butter 2 Tbsp lemon zest 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening 8oz cream cheese @ room temperature 1 cup buttermilk Pinch of salt *NOTE: cream the fat first (butter, shortening & cream cheese) before adding in the sugar. Then, Gradually add flour and alternate with the buttermilk. Beat on low-medium speed until combined and DO NOT over beat your batter to avoid a dry & stiff cake! VERY IMPORTANT! Pour all the batter into one Bundt pan and bake @ 325 degrees F for 1hr plus 20-30minutes. A toothpick inserted in the middle must come out clean! Allow to cool down to room temperature. I personally enjoy mine over night.
