Following our 100% playthrough of Donkey Kong Country Returns, Keet and I decided to complete Yoshi’s Woolly World next. Keet had actually never beaten this game before, so it was nice to finally help him achieve a 100% save file on his system. Keet’s channel: / @keetandbait Watch our wacky commentary here: • Yoshi's Woolly World # 1 - "World 1 Montage!" This is my second time beating this game. When Woolly World was first announced, I was skeptical about the game due to the yarn art style and my past experience with the lackluster Yoshi’s Island sequels (especially Yoshi’s Story). So I was hesitant to pick this title up. However, when I went to E3 2015 with my friend Peter, we had the chance to play this game, and Peter really liked it. He eventually talked me into getting the game within about a year of its release, and we posted a two-player playthrough on my channel, but we didn’t show ourselves completing the game 100%. I’m just now rectifying that. Yoshi’s Woolly World is actually a surprisingly good game, if you ignore the frustrating collectathon stuff. Although I haven’t played Yoshi’s Crafted World yet, I’d say Woolly World is possibly the second-best Yoshi game after the original Yoshi’s Island. Woolly World introduces some neat features for two-player mode, such as eating the other player and turning him into an egg at any time, and it makes interesting use of the yarn concept. You can also purchase various Power Badges to make the levels easier, such as adding Poochy, and the Wii Remote controls are excellent because you can quickly aim your eggs just by tilting the controller. As far as I’m concerned, the tilt controls are the best way to play this game. Interestingly, in two-player mode, only one player has to finish the stage with full health in order to achieve a 100% rating. It’s a helpful fact that is almost never mentioned, and something we absolutely had to rely on with the bonus stages. However, several stages are not properly designed for two players, so that's a bit of an issue. Most of these stages were not completed back-to-back in a single session. Instead, I merely edited together our successful runs into complete worlds. In this first part we started a new save file and completed World 1.
