A graduate of Central Washington University with a BA in Performance and a MA in Composition, he spent 10 years as principal trombonist for the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, several years with the Seattle Seahawks Orchestra, the New Blues Brothers, and the Sophisticated Swing dance orchestras. Currently he performs regularly with the Olympia Jazz Initiative, Chinook Brass Quintet, Top Brass, and Spats. During his tenure as a music teacher, he has taught for the Seattle, Yakima, and Tumwater schools, and currently directs the Jazz Ensemble at Pierce College in Lakewood. Peter Klinzman Peter Klinzman performed on the euphonium and trombone with the US Navy music program for five years. Peter, who earned a BA in Music Education from Eastern Washington University, currently teaches band and orchestra at Tumwater High School. He has performed with the New Jazz Repertory Ensemble, Spokane Jazz Orchestra, the Olympia Symphony and is currently with the Olympia Jazz Initiative, and Pierce College Jazz Ensemble. Richard Lopez Richard Lopez studied classical and jazz trombone under the teaching of Prof. Bobby Scann at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In Las Vegas he performed with artists such as Joe Williams, Marlena Shaw, Carl Fontana, Louie Belson, Bobby Shew, Don Menza and Pete Christlieb. Performing around the Puget Sound area, Richard currently plays with the Joe Koplin Sextet, Syd Potter Sextet, Jay Thomas Friendly Fire big band, the award-winning Pierce College Jazz Ensemble and the Olympic Trombone Orchestra. Richard also conducts the Olympia Jazz Initiative big band. On occasion, Richard attends the smokin' jam sessions at the house of Bert Wilson (tenor sax). Martin Woodruff Martin Woodruff began playing bass trombone in 1969 and studied music at Central Washington University during the 70s. Since then, he has performed in many bands and orchestras, including the Grays Harbor and Olympia Symphonies, The Masterworks Choral Ensemble, The North Coast Brass Quintet, The Elks National Band and The Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Martin earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Western Washington University and a master's degree in gifted education from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Montesano, Washington with his wife and two children, and teaches math and science at Rochester Middle School. Martin performs regularly with The Olympia Jazz Initiative and The Dukes of Swing. Northwest Composer Mark Thome: https://composers.com/collections/mar... Mark attended the University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University and graduated from The Evergreen State College with a degree in music composition. He studied with composers Greg Youtz and Ingrahm Marshall. Mark performs on woodwinds with various groups in the Puget Sound area, including the Pierce College Jazz Ensemble and the Olympia Jazz Initiative. He is actively composing and arranging music for various ensembles, from brass quintet to big band and opera throughout the Northwest and beyond. *Fifteenth-century term for trombone.
