This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Have you wondered why women tend to be better communicators and managers of people? Mary Ovenstone touches on the "grey matter" in our brains that fosters this aptitude and highlights the "magical otherness" of men and women that should not create competition, but rather complementarity . Mary Ovenstone is an Executive and Leadership Coach and Mentor, a Canadian-trained Counsellor for individuals and couples, international workshop presenter and public speaker, author and frequent guest in the media. Her latest research has been on the neurological differences between the male and female brain, how we think, process emotions and relate somewhat differently. She developed brain-based coaching tools as well as methods for cross-gender thinking and decision-making for her thesis for an MPhil in Management Coaching at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), which she received in 2014. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
