Another track to learn and car to set up. This time it's the Lotus 88 at Canada's Mont Tremblant. The 1981 Lotus 88 never actually competed on the F1 circuit. It was banned by the FIA as a consequence of its so-called 'double chassis' which, according to the FIA, contravened the then recently introduced prohibition of ground effects on F1 cars. The double chassis, the FIA ruled, effectively allowed part of the car to be forced towards the tarmac when under load. This created a skirt around the car's underside which in turn generated ground effect downforce. Despite Colin Chapman's protestations, the ban was upheld and the car was never allowed to race in the F1 championship. The Assetto Corsa rendition of the car comes courtesy of Legion and is possibly another of his conversions. It is available as a free download from https://www.assettoworld.com/car/lotu... The track is another free offering from the ever impressive Reboot Team and can be downloaded via https://www.assettoworld.com/track/ci... I believe that Mont Tremblant was, and possibly still is, owned by Lance Stroll's father. Neglect left it in a state of disrepair over a number of years, but a major financial investment led to a rejuvination of the site and it is now once again fully operational. The Assetto Corsa version is enjoyable to drive once the more technical aspects of the track are understood. I'll definitely be going back there when setting up cars. As an aside, it also includes an impressive array of trackside cameras, making life much easier for those putting together race or hotlapping videos. Kudos to the Reboot Team. Thanks for looking in.
