We all started out somewhere and learned along the way! We were not wearing helmets in this series and appreciate and completely understand your concerns! We don’t advise anyone to do the same!! We are not professionals, just a family out on our type of adventure, that is all. ******* Welcome to Part 3 of our mini series! On our second day we look for two of the skulls that Frank from Abandoned Mines hid about one year ago on the Nickel Plate Mountain. Did we find them?? We also check out the lower adit of the French Mine and connect the lower to the upper adit. 🤗 ******** The French Mine was discovered in 1901 and formerly known as The Oregon. It sits 4 miles by road, south of the Nickel Plate Mine. It lies on the steep eastern slope of the Similkameen River Valley, at an elevation of 4000 feet. Purchased by Messrs, French and Deardorf in 1905, it was developed in a modest way by them and several companies until 1947, without much success. Spectacular showings of bornite and chalcopyrite in the outcrop drew attention to better possibilities of copper rather than gold. Diamond drilling by the owners in 1947 yielded several high grade gold intersections and created new interest. Kelowna Mines Hedley Limited purchased the property in 1949 and exploration drilling and geological mapping outlined sufficient ore to commence production in 1950. With the exception of a few months each winter, it operated continuously and by 1954 had produced almost 30 000 tons of high grade ore. The ore was then crushed at the mine and hulled 8 miles by truck to the company mill in Hedley. Disclaimer: Mines are dangerous! Know before you go and prepare yourself to the best of your ability!! Mines are unstable and an unpredictable environment. Toxic gases, dynamite, loose rocks and false floors are only just a few of the hazards you should be aware of!! ⛏ Thank you for stopping by, we really appreciate it!! If you like these types of videos, please consider subscribing❤️! Stay tuned for our final video in our mini series Part 4, where we finish up our search for Exploring Abandoned Mines skull💀 hidden at the upper tram station. But first, we visit the Hedley Cemetery and Nickle Plate Cemetery in search of the grave sites of the two miners killed in an unfortunate accident at Nickle Plate Mine. All of our videos are upload in HD! We encourage you to check your settings and change them accordingly if your system doesn’t do it automatically.
