Just when you think you've seen it all, something RARE and surprising comes by on the rails! We'll get to see two different, and rare locomotives as they make their way west for restoration, rebuilding, and a new life. One being an ALCo FA-1 from 1949, and the other being one of the first GP40s ever built. The first locomotive we're going to see is WRIX 5529, a former New York Central GP40 built back in 1965. This was one of the FIRST GP40s ever built, and has had a long service life, last working for the CNW. Now in badly worn, faded CNW paint, its off to be rebuilt by Western Rail Inc. It'll get a new engine, and lease on life! The other engine we'll see is a VERY cool looking ALCo FA-1. This one was built back in February of 1949 for the SP&S, and it itself is heading west for preservation at the Inland Northwest Rail Museum. Since it started life for the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle, its changed owners many times, with a number of changes over the years. SO much cool history in these locomotives!
