We’re into the real Cape York adventure now, the bitumen ends and the red dirt begins! Our first stop is the famous Hann River Roadhouse, home to what we reckon is the best burger on the Cape. From there we roll north to the Archer River Roadhouse, another classic spot for travellers making their way up the Peninsula. Along the way we also pull in at Split Rock, one of Queensland’s most significant Aboriginal rock art sites. Standing in front of artwork that’s thousands of years old is a humbling reminder of the deep history of this land. As we hit the dust, we can’t help but think back to our last trip where things didn’t exactly go to plan. This time we’re tackling it with fresh eyes, full bellies, and a whole lot more experience under our belts!
