Hello all! In this video, I will demonstrate how to perform a surface crochet bobble stitch. Written instructions below: So, what is it? The Surface crochet bobble stitch is a technique that adds texture/detail to your crochet projects. This can be handy when adding details to a crochet project where you would like to decrease the number of pieces needing to be sewn. It involves working the bobble stitch on the surface of a completed piece, rather than in the round as you usually would. Due to the natural spiral of crocheting in the round, this can be beneficial in a project when you are having trouble getting the stitches to line up or for color changes to be clean. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a surface crochet bobble stitch: 1. Join Yarn: Insert your crochet hook into the space where you want to start the bobble stitch. Pull a loop and chain 1 to secure it. This will be your starting point for the bobble. 2. Work the Bobble Stitch: Yarn Over (YO): Yarn over and insert the hook into the same spot where you made the chain. Pull Up a Loop: Yarn over again and pull up a loop. You should have three loops on the hook. -Yarn Over and Pull Through: Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook, leaving two loops on the hook. Repeat: Repeat the steps above until you have the specified number of loops on the hook. For my pattern, the number of loops is 5. Finish Bobble: Yarn over and pull through all five loops. 3. Secure the Bobble: To ensure your bobble stays in place, insert your hook into the base of the bobble or a stitch just adjacent to the origin spot and make a slip stitch to secure it. This helps anchor the bobble and prevents it from flopping around. That's it!!! I hope you found this video helpful.
