Nicole Doyle teaches the message 'The Sin Delusion'. Sin carries a powerful delusion. It rarely presents itself as destructive — it often looks appealing, reasonable, or harmless. Yet Scripture tells us that when humanity turned from honouring God, hearts became darkened and truth was exchanged for lies (Romans 1:21–23). What begins as independence from God slowly becomes spiritual blindness. This blindness didn’t start with us individually. Through Adam, sin entered the world, and death followed for all humanity (Romans 5:12). Sin separated us from God and distorted how we see truth, ourselves, and even God Himself. The enemy works within this fallen condition, blinding minds so people cannot see the light of Christ and the hope found in Him (2 Corinthians 4:4). Without the Holy Spirit — the Spirit of truth — people often don’t recognise their need for God (John 14:17). But Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would lovingly convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). Conviction is not condemnation; it is God’s mercy calling us back into truth before sin hardens the heart further. Sin always overpromises and underdelivers. It offers pleasure, control, or freedom, yet its wages are ultimately death — spiritual separation from God (Romans 6:23). And God is not interested in empty religious rituals or outward performance; He desires sincere repentance and a humble heart (Numbers 15:27; Hebrews 10:6). The beautiful hope is this: when we respond to God’s conviction instead of resisting it, the delusion begins to lift. Light replaces darkness. Truth replaces deception. And in Christ we receive forgiveness, new life, and restored relationship with God. God’s heart is always restoration, never abandonment. He calls us out of deception not to shame us, but to bring us home.
