This course provides information and discussion on the following; Conducive conditions for subterranean termites, drywood termites and carpenter ants, structural areas prone to WDI attack, foundation types (monolithic , post tension monolithic, floating, supported slabs, crawl spaces (hollow block, concrete pour, etc.) and basements). Common terminology used in construction is presented. Examples of and anomalies and issues for WDI control associated with each type of foundation are discussed. Pipe slab penetrations, bath traps joints, cracks, beams, etc. are noted. Methods of inspection and treatment are discussed. Trench, and Trench and rod techniques are provided. Non-chemical methods are discussed including debris removal, termite shields, site drainage, resistant wood types, etc. Inspection and treatment techniques for dirt filled porches, wall planters, piers, posts, sunken rooms, tilt wall construction, single, double and three course brick stem walls, synthetic and classic stucco, fireplaces, etc. are provided. Directions for termiticide foaming techniques of structural voids is provided. Goal of protecting structure from termite damage in relation to construction type is used as overall theme of talk.
