Well, this game's an oddity. I feel like I'll probably be way kinder than people expect to this game, despite my harshness on FireRed and LeafGreen, even though I think this game is… weird. Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! are currently the newest in Gamefreak's long lineage of forcing us through Kanto- released just a few years ago in 2018, as the first… semi-mainline ???? Pokemon games on the console. Mainline is a bit of a contentious point as they definitely… have some… deviations from the proper mainline games. The two games are a remake of Pokémon Yellow- yes, two from one, and roughly follow that game's progression, plot, and gimmicky conceit- that is, a non-traditional starter- and while mostly following the traditional route and story of the Kanto games, breaks the story in really… strange ways as a result of being a weird isekai where Red and Blue are NPCs in the world outside of what the player does- I'll come back to it.
